Slip & Fall/Trip & Fall/Injuries on Another's Premises

The term 'slip and fall' is a generic term used by lawyers to describe a fall that was caused by someone else's negligence. The fall can be a result of snow, ice or other slippery surface. It can also be a result of broken or uneven pavement, a wet floor or loose flooring or any other condition that makes the area dangerous. Injuries that result from these accidents may be a bruised or a scraped elbow. Or, they can be more serious injuries such as broken bones, torn ligaments and muscle damage, or even head Injuries.

A dangerous premise may also include attacks by an aggressive dog. In Ontario, under the Dog Owner's Liability Act, the owner of the dog is liable for injuries caused by that animal. If you have been injured, you may be entitled to compensation for pain and suffering (including emotional distress and an amount for scarring), loss of income, medical and rehabilitation expenses, future loss of income and other damages.

If you have been bitten or attacked you should immediately seek medical attention; take photographs of the injured areas; keep all receipts and other documents you have related to the attack and ensure you obtain all personal information from the dog's owner including name(s), address and telephone number, if this is at all possible.

If you have been injured, you may be entitled to compensation. Call for you free initial consultation.
